2005 AASHTO National Value Engineering Award: Most Value Added Proposal Preconstruction Engineering $25 - $75 Million
The I-405 Storm Water project scope included storm water collection, conveyance, storage and treatment along 22 miles of I-405, the second largest North-South artery supporting Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue and Renton. MENG Analysis identified drainage system planning and construction alternatives that may offer first-cost or life cycle cost benefits and improve project quality. MENG Analysis VE team members provided proposals yielding an accepted cost savings of $62 million. This savings represents 83% of the total project cost, with additional savings potential possible on future projects. This project received the 2005 AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) for Most Value Added Proposal.
