The MENG Analysis FCA team conducted surveys over a 6 week period which included 12 park sites with a total of 43 facilities. We reviewed sites for mechanical, electrical, structural and architectural components. As part of this FCA a more detailed assessment was also done for one of their office buildings which compared the renovation versus replacement costs. The FCA analysis helped Olympia Parks, Art, and Recreation (OPAR) find the common building components which showed significant backlog in maintenance. Further lifecycle studies for materials that make-up these building systems (e.g. roofing) will assist the department in reducing maintenance costs and free-up available funds for other purposes. Finally, the deficiencies identified will also help the Department plan for the ten year capital funding plan.
A Preliminary Report for Priest Point Park, dated May 7, 2008, was delivered to OPAR to assist in the development of the Priest Point Park Major Maintenance Plan 2008-2010 and outlines funding requirements for budgeting future capital budget requests for the City Council of Olympia.
