PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Fire Station #21

A new two-story Fire Station to replace the existing 1978, fire station that is currently acting as the department headquarters. The new facility constructed in the same location on the site includes apparatus bay to support firefighting equipment, administrative offices to support administrative positions as well as code enforcement and include fire fighter living and fitness requirements. Area is also included for ongoing vehicle maintenance. The new headquarters will also include a community room to further support community based programs.

The new building maximizes the contour of the site as well as working around the existing helipad and minimizes the removal of trees. Parking areas are expanded and the apparatus bays will be configured with vehicle drive lanes to support pull-through access for equipment. The design includes new utility connections and concrete walks for foot traffic. The existing fueling station will also be relocated as part of the new facility.

The building is mostly wood frame on conventional slab on grade and standard concrete foundations with wood framed floor system and open web joists for roof framing.
Plumbing systems include water conserving fixtures. Mechanical system consists of propane heating system with radiant heat in apparatus bay and cooling at living and administrative areas. HVAC system includes controls for energy efficiency. Electrical power is supported with 800A service and generator backup with LED lighting and lighting controls.

The roof is a combination of low slope metal shed style and pitched slope. The interiors are standard finishes with tile in wet areas and concrete floors with painted walls in the more service type of spaces.
