PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project focused on a new 72,000 sf, 4-story cast-in-place concrete structure on a pile supported foundation. The new building houses new science, math, art and nursing programs supported by general classrooms, computer labs, art studios, faculty offices, meeting/conference rooms, chemistry/biology and nursing laboratories.

Project goals included: 

 

  • LEED Silver certification with a potential to recognize LEED Gold

  • Rain water harvesting to support non-potable water uses in the building including flush toilets and mechanical make-up water

  • A borefield supporting the ground source heat pump based 4-pipe HVAC system including high-performance Lab HVAC.

  • Special wet-lab plumbing systems, including high-purity water, lab gas, lab vacuum, acid waste, and others.

  • HVAC included forced-air, radiant floor, and natural ventilation areas

  • Electrical includes day lighting and dual fuel standby generator

  • A green roof and terrace on level 2 are accessible from the surface parking to the south of the building.
